HHDW supports the work of the Department of Health (DOH)’s Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Division (CDPHPD). CDPHPD addresses physical activity, nutrition and tobacco use through its Primary Prevention Branch—known as the Healthy Hawaii Initiative (HHI)—as well as the detection and control of chronic diseases (asthma, cancer, diabetes and heart disease & stroke) through its Chronic Disease Management Branch. In this way, HHDW provides technical assistance on issues related to both primary and secondary prevention. The HHDW also allows the DOH to track and monitor Hawaii’s progress towards meeting the Healthy People 2020 goals.
The Hawaii Health Data Warehouse (HHDW) project is a partnership between the Hawaii State Department of Health (DOH) and the University of Hawaii, Office of Public Health Studies. The Research Corporation of the University of Hawaii (RCUH) functions as the Human Resource and Accounting arms for HHDW.
